Today (Nov.20), my ATA suddenly started losing registration. When rebooted, it takes unusually long time to register.
Until today, my system had been working for weeks and even months without reboot.
I have not changed anything manually on my side.
So, I am wondering if either my VoIP provider VoIP.MS or my internet provider Teksavvy has changed anything on their side.
The ATA (SPA3102) is behind the router. Router port-forwarding has been never needed.
Hardware: {Thomson DCM476 cable modem} + {D-Link DIR-866 router} + {SPA 3102 ATA}
Services: {Teksavvy cable Internet} + {VoIP.MS SIP }
FIREWALL SETTINGS=> ALG => SIP and PPTP (ticked)
Advanced Network =>Enable UPnP IGD (ticked)

[Equipment] Looking for IP phone suggestions
I believe my pap2t finally crapped out as it randomly disconnected one night and wouldn't reconnect. Had to do a factory reset, connected now but it refuses to dial out, even though I can receive inbound without any issues. I tried doing everything I can possibly can, so I imagine this is equipment failure at this point.
I never used IP phones, but figure I will give them a try. I'm not really looking for any features as it's for residential use to simply make calls, so I am looking mostly for something affordable.
I'm currently looking at the Grandstream DP720 with base for $130 CAD or the Yealin W52P with base for $150 CAD.
I'm looking for long term reliability more than anything else. Anyone have any good experience with either one of the two, or something else that's in the similar price range? Thanks!

[Voip.ms] Trouble With Obi 200 call rejected by service provider
Recently, when dialing out on my Obi 200, either through the Simmons GV Gateway or through Circlenet, the call does not go through. Instead I get this "call rejected by service provider reason 503 or 500". When this has happened occasionally in the past 3 years I'd power cycle the Obi and things returned to normal. No such luck this time. Nothing has changed so I'm baffled. Appreciate any guidance re troubleshooting/correcting. Thanks

Choosing ITSP for small business
Greetings,
I'm bidding for a contract to replace an existing phone system for a small business. They have three lines plus a fax machine.
I will be installing a PBX, router, and UPS for them, along with four Polycom IP phones and an ATA.
I really wanted to choose CallCentric for them, but this business requires unlimited outbound calling. I suppose I can do different inbound and outbound providers, but I want to keep things simple.
The only ITSP's that come to mind are Anveo, CallCentric and Localphone.
Unless I missed it, it seems Anveo only charges by the minute for outbound, so I think they're out. Localphone doesn't appear to be a mature outfit for a business, but someone can prove me wrong. And well.... CallCentric would have been my choice but sadly no unlimited outbound.
Any other ITSP's?
TIA

[Other] RingPlus just ate their words
I know they cannot keep doing this but it comes too soon.
Is there any decency left in US businesses? Too bad!
This is what I received today from the email to me:
"RingPlus has to switch to a new system. Sadly, because of this switch, we will have to discontinue your current plan.

[Equipment] Wireless Non-Bluetooth Headset for Cellphone?
Is there an equivalent to DECT wireless headsets, but instead of for VoIP/Deskphones, for Cellphones? Bluetooth isn't really a sustainable solution for serious business calls.
I'm thinking some sort of Wireless DECT Dock that has 3.5mm input?

[Anveo] Porting A Canadian TN With USA Account Address
Has anyone run into issues porting a Canadian telephone number associated with a USA account address?
The Setup:
I have two numbers out of Vancouver (BC) that I am trying to port from Flowroute to Anveo Direct. Flowroute, the original provider, uses my USA based address for verification purposes if they are unable to reach me in time for verification. Usually the manual verification window is four business hours except in cases where the port is "expedited" by the carrier.
What Happened:
Anveo's LNP department rejected my original port request with my USA account address due to "[Anveo] cannot use US address for the porting process of Canadian numbers". Flowroute suggested that I use a dummy address in Canada and manually approve the transfer when it came in. I decided to try the dummy address route because there is a four business hour window for approving transfer requests with Flowroute. The updated dummy address port request was submitted to the Anveo exactly one week ago. There was no communications from Anveo after submitting the update form other than that they were working on the request.
That transfer request hit Flowroute today and had an "expedite" flag on it which cut the approval time down from 4 hours to 1 hour. I was unaware that the port request was going to be coming in today so I was not watching email very closely. This reduced approval window caused the port request to be rejected by Flowroute because I did not get the approval email until 30 minutes after the approval request expired (or 90 minutes after the request came in from the carrier). I immediately emailed Flowroute but there was nothing they could do due to the expedited processes being used.
I am now waiting on a support ticket to Anveo Direct to hopefully sort this whole thing out. The annoying part of this story is that this rejection delay, coupled with the Thanksgiving holiday, will likely cost me another month of service ($2.50) with the previous provider, Flowroute.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue and get the number ported over?

CallCentric Setup with FreePBX
So I have had nothing but headaches with this. So now I finally got my main incoming only number setup BUT when it comes to incoming routes what is my exact DID? I've tried everything but Im only able to have 1 incoming line. When I add a 2nd and want the 2nd line to go to an different Incoming Route thats where my problem lies as if I set the DID under incoming route to anything other than "ANY" FreePBX gives both numbers when calling a Number not in service error.
Pretty much things work fine with 1 or 2 trunks if my Incoming Route is set to "ANY" did. But then both numbers ring the same extension. Theres no way I can get 1 ring 1 ext and 2nd ring a 2nd ext due to not knowing the correct DID that CallCentric is using
I am using 1777xxxxx100 for first and 1777xxxx200 as example for my DID and its not working.

Black Friday Smartphones
Not as many good deals on cheap smartphones this year as last on "Black Friday".
These phones should be good for wifi calling without signing up with the carrier.
This is what I see so far that are less than $20. None of them seem as good as last year's $10 Moto E sale.
Best Buy:
Alcatel Tribute (AT&T) $9.99
Samsung Galaxy J1 (Verizon) $19.99
LG Tribute HD (BoostM) $19.99
LG Rebel L44VL (TracFone) $19.99
KMart:
LG Rebel (TracFone) $19.99
Alcatel Brightstar Dawn (??) $19.99
Edit: Add Walmart:
Samsung Galaxy J1 Luna (Straight Talk) - $19.95
LG X Style (Straight Talk) - $19.95

[Equipment] Obihai 200
Hi @ll,
Anyone would be kind enough and help me setup dial plan.
I have Obihai 200 with Callcentric up and running, I would like for all my North America calls to go via Callcentric as they go now.
But all other calls go via Future Nine, I already have F9 setup as provider.
But I think I need a rule that will catch this and send calls via F9
Has anyone done anything like this.
Thank you

Koodo Wireless Home Phone $20/month - anyone else trying this?
Even though I cannot receive a call on my cell phone (Samsung Note 4) where I live, the WF721 gives me 2 bars and is more than enough to make a high quality call.
Both the WF721 & my cell phone use the Bell Mobility network of towers.
Btw, as a promotion, the cost is $5 per month for the first year.

[Equipment] Help on a new ATA
My 3 yo Obi202 has bit the big one. It will not boot. I've tried a number of things including various power adapters, and putting it in the fridge! I opened it and looked for bad solder joints and bulging caps, but saw nothing obvious.
This is in a hope situation with no fancy needs. I like the built-in router with QoS, and also the ability to call out on one service (Localphone) while using a different one (Anveo) for inbound -- totally "invisibly" after configuring the dial plan. I don't use GoogleVoice and don't anticipate doing so. Two phone ports are nice, but not really required if I can have 4 phones on one port.
A new Obi202 is the strongest possibility (although I'm really disappointed in the reliability). Here are my questions:
1. Can I configure a new one locally without using ObiTalk, as I did the old one. I have a backup of my configuration that hopefully I would like to just load and go. Or would I be forced to use ObiTalk?
2. I've heard about the new $10/yr "maintenance fee" that Obi has tried to institute. Can I avoid that if I don't use GV?
3. Another possibility I saw on Amazon is the SPA 122. It's half the price and has a built in router. I know little about it. Would it work for me? Any downsides for the scenario I described?
TIA for your help and advice.

[General] integrating VoLTE, wifi calling from mobile carrier with landline
Some background first; I have been a VoIP proponent and user for 10 years, starting out with a simple ATA lighting up my analog house wiring, progressing evenutally to Bria SIP client on all our smartphones, 802.11ac network connecting to PBXinaFlash on an Ethernet QoS networked atom PC linking us to VoIP.ms ITSP, or the mobile phone network when the smartphones are off wifi. We have a Yealink T26P IP phone at the desk just to maintain the security blanket of the corded phone, although it gathers dust as the cordless smartphones are preferred. Has a good loud ringer though.
So right now I have a seamlessly integrated fixed and mobile phone setup. One number reaches us anywhere, no manual forwarding or user interaction required.
But the mobile carriers have not been sitting still. VoLTE, HD voice and wifi calling have finally come to Verizon, and now I see the newest device in our 3-phone fleet, Samsung Galaxy S7, supports wifi calling with seamless transitions from wifi to mobile radio networks during a call. In fact, I dropped the Galaxy S7 from the VoIP setup completely as my use case for VoIP was obsoleted by these new features from Verizon. This is great, all the features I had before, with the bonus of seamless roaming from local to wide area networks. And I don't have to be a phone administrator anymore, although to be fair once I set up PBXinaFlash it has been perfect for may years, requiring little to no attention.
The one missing piece is integrating a landline phone. The one that nobody wants to use, but has a loud ringer and gives that warm fuzzy of having phone sitting on the desk. Oh, I don't want to pay more this feature either. At least much more. Verizon already gets lots of money, I don't think having a seldom-used desk phone simultaneously ring with mobile line should cost that much.
Any ideas on how to accomplish that last piece, ringing or integrating the corded phone with a mobile? Preferably in a seamless fashion, obviously one can manually forward the number to a separate VoIP or landline number.

OneSuite on FreePBX
Recently set up a RasPBX to authenticate for GV for use with OBi110. I realize I can also shift the Onesuite from OBi SPx to FreePBX.
Has anyone successfully setup outgoing calls on it and have the suggested Settings? While new to FreePBX for 1 week, I suspect all I need to do is set up Extension, Outgoing and Trunk since no Inbound calls are needed.

[Equipment] Cisco SPAxxx rebboting randomly - reason provisioning
Hi,
I have a little issue with Cisco SPAXXX rebooting randomly.
When checking log I see the reason for this is always Provisioning.
To resolve this i've set
provisioning to :no
and resync on reset to :no
but this is not the solution as I need this above set to yes.
Setting phone to static IP instead of dynamic doesn't help either and phones are still rebooting - there is no time pattern for this and the reason is always provisioning.
Issuing phone : CISCO SPA303
Software: 7.5.2
Hardware: 1.0.1
Any thoughts or hints ?
Best regards,
Peter

CSipSimple drops registration sporadically
I recently installed CSipSimple 1.02.03 on Android 6.0.1 on a Galaxy S5.
Sometimes it stops talking to my Asterisk server and I can't figure out why. I've tried UDP, TCP, and TLS (preferred), and the problem still occurs. At the moment both the server and the phone are on the same subnet (no firewall in between), but the problem also happens when the phone is connecting to the internet via a WiFi hotspot or 4G. Turning on SIP DEBUG on the Asterisk server shows absolutely nothing. The phone is able to ping the server (and vice-versa) and I have Lock WiFi and High Perfs Lock enabled. It's configured to connect to the server's IP address, so DNS isn't a problem.
The only thing that I know solves the problem is navigating to Active Applications, ending CSipSimple, and restarting it.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mango
Update: I discovered it will come back on its own if I leave it long enough.
