[Equipment] Obi200: ringing continues after call is answered - my side only.

Hello: When I place a call, I continue to hear ringing after the recipient of my call answers - the recipient does not hear the ringing. If I hang up and redial the same person, this phantom ringing no longer happens. The Obi200 is setup as an extension on my PBX (RentPbx) and uses Anveo Direct. This is a new behaviour - the OBi worked fine before. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks, Rob.

[Equipment] Canadian Gigaset Dealer?

Howdy, I'm looking for a place in Canada that sells Gigaset VoIP phones. Specifically looking for SIP with FXO, thinking C or E series. One maybe two handsets. Trev said the Acrovoice ones are locked to their service. Any leads? The Amazon.ca ones all seem to be from the US or crazy expensive..

[PBX] Add a New 3TB storage to your PBX under $50

I just posted this in our HotDeals forum and thought some of you who want to add a storage to your PBX may find it very affordable. This offer is from Fry's Electronics with ONLY a local store pick up. If your PBX only comes with a USBx port, then perhaps you will need to buy this SATA/PATA/IDE Drive to USB 2.0 Adapter Converter Cable for 2.5/3.5 Hard Drive + an external 12 VDC power brick or any inexpensive USB3/SATA docking station (with power brick) to drive this SATA HDD.

VoIP over VPN

said by kevinds :VoIP traffic through VPN? Why? If you want to have private conversations with trusted others, This would be valid for VoIP over VPN. But to connect your Anveo account through the VPN, you are giving an eavesdropper your current IP from the VPN provider's poolI wanted to follow up on this thread Configuring vpn with voip service. Are you saying, if a call from VoIP device to a random destination (another VoIP device, mobile phone, landline) is routed via VPN, it doesn't enhance its privacy, since the eavesdropper can intercept outgoing packets from the VPN server instead of your Wi-Fi router or modem? And for that reason passing VoIP calls via VPN is senseless? Is it really that easy to intercept packets coming from any server in the world? In this case, why paid VPN services are so widespread and hugely popular? Are elements of various layered internet protocols not encrypted before packets sent to the VPN provider's server? How would a 3rd party eavesdropping on a Wi-Fi router decipher that the traffic was headed to a certain VPN server, if the tunnel is established by an OpenVPN client through which the encrypted packets leave the router?

[General] g722 wideband on analog phones

Tried g722 today for the first time and I am impressed with it. (Until today I've been mostly using alaw. The difference in quality is astounding.) http://wiki.kolmisoft.com/index.php/Which_codecs_should_I_choose_for_devices#G722 Not many ATAs seem to support g722, whereas linphone, zoiper etc do support it. Is this due to a reason? (perhaps analog phones cannot work with wideband codecs so ATA manufacturers did not bother to support wideband codecs?) Can someone please clarify? Thanks in advance!

Getting a specific number

Years ago we had an area code split. It seems the number with the original area code is ununsed and held by Telnyx. Some old business still has this number on it so it would be useful to obtain it. Any reasonable ways to get a specific number?

[Other] Localphone $0.005 USA Retail Rate - How So Low?

How does Localphone manage to offer a flat $0.005 retail rate for the entire United States 48? Does any other provider offer a flat US retail rate at or below half a cent per minute? To the best of my knowledge this is unmatched among retail telephony or VoIP providers.

New CircleNet $8 and $15 BYOD plans

Hello DSLReports, We're announcing some changes to our recent BYOD plans the changes are in response to requests we've gotten from users here and on the Obitalk forums. We're relaxing the rule that you must use a CirlceNet device on our $8 and $15 plan. We will now allow BYOD devices but we're adding another antifraud provision in their place. Calls on the $8 or $15 plan must originate with the callerID of the CirlceNet DID associated with the account. Also I wanted to provide some idea of where we'd start looking for fraud/abuse here. On the $8 residential / small business plan unless your using an autodialer we won't even look at your account usage until you use 5,000 minutes total monthly. On the $15 plan we'll work with you to transition to a per-minute if your average monthly usage over 90 days is >10,000 minutes. At that point you really need a dedicated trunk thats about 6 hours a day on the phone. The changes will appear on our page later today. Thanks, Sam

Obihai OBi200 VoIP Telephone Adapter with Google Voice & SIP $35

i know there are some who won't ever buy a Obi device again with their forced update issues and EOL tactics but for those who have their reasons to continue buying Obi devices before June 18th, Newegg has the 200 series on sale for $35 with promo code EMCXPURT2 (need to sign up for newsletters from Newegg to use promo codes) About as cheap as I've seen since introduced. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833617008 Let's try to keep this from a Obi bashing thread for the benefit of those who actually need one.

[Voip.ms] Need to reboot OBi after power outage - why is that?

I have an OBi100 with FreePhoneLine, and whenever there is a power outage, my device automatically registers again once the outage is over. However, my parents also have an OBi100, but with voip.ms, and whenever they recover power after an outage, they have to reboot the OBi to get their line back, even though the lights on the device are all green. Does this have anything to do with their service provider, or with their router? Is there anything I can do to make the device register back automatically?

Trying to contact Voipo support by ticket and chat since yesterday concerning possible multiple billing for a renewal. Ticket has been confirmed by autoresponder but there has been no response and Chat times out after 5 minutes. Prior tickets have usually gotten prompt human email replies. Maybe they are on holiday hours but if so, the site should indicate it...

Caller ID Data Change for Google Voice Number

I have been running my business on a Google Voice number for many years. Back when I started, there was a somewhat obscure but pretty effective web site where you could enter the new name of the business (bought the number from another business) and it would propagate fairly effectively. Well fast forward to 2018 and I changed to a corporation with a new name. I either can't find that web site or it no longer works so well. I found some site near the beginning of the year that seemed to be the right thing (can't find it in my history any more) but it did not seem to really work the most recent time, the changes not propagating. Is there such a service still around, or does it even matter any more?

[Anveo] TelcoData.us vs. Anveo Direct Rate Center for DIDs

$

I've been searching DIDs on Anveo Direct, and when I've checked the DIDs against TelcoData.us, the Rate Center doesn't always match. The Rate Center listed at TelcoData is often for surrounding cities. However, when I check the North American Number Lookup at CallWithUs, the rate center data matches Anveo Direct. Could TelcoData.us be out of date? Or which one would be accurate? For example: 616-951-5 Anveo: City Name=Grand Rapids / Rate Center=GRAND RPDS TelcoData: Rate Center=ROCKFORD CallWithUs: CNAM: GRAND RAPID, MI LRN: 16169290000 State: MI Ratecenter: GRAND RPDS LATA: 348 OCN: 991E Company: BANDWIDTH.COM CLEC, LLC - MI Prefix_Type: CLEC Would people who call this number see ROCKFORD or GRAND RAPIDS on their billing statement? Also -- to add, when I check different City Names in the same Rate Center at Anveo Direct, I see the same numbers repeated for multiple cities.

IAXmodem, Asterisk, and GV after June 18th.

Do many here have IAXmodem installed on Asterisk with GV? Given it's using GV/Motif for faxing, what do people here plan to do after June 18th for the faxing needs? I'm guessing, one can still use IAXmodem with any other SIP provider they change to as as well?

Google Voice/OBi200 and Alarm Line Problem

$

I had been using Google Voice via OBi200 to call out to my alarm company. It looks like now that my Google Voice has been updated to their new SIP platform, it's no longer working. I see that when I try the alarm, I see in my GV call log a bunch of calls to the alarm company (877) 423-2321. It sounds like that's some sort of modem, which I guess isn't connecting properly with the new Google Voice. In my OBi, I currently have line 1 as my Google Voice line. Line 2 as a SIP line for work (it doesn't give me the option to use that as an alarm line). Line 3 is another Google Voice line. Line 4 is a Callcentric line that I use for E911 (it also doesn't give me the option to use that as an alarm line). Any ideas how to get this working again? Any advanced settings? Any type of gateway I can go through to make this work again?
