Hope this is ok since it's the only VoIP forum I can find here.
I'm an AT&T customer with a Triple Play Pack which includes their version of VoIP calling. I want to try and get rid of the phone line from them and see if having internet and TV is any cheaper. My phone promo discount is expiring next month so I figured that it might be a good time to try something else.
I'm posting here because I purchased an Ooma device from Meh's site a bit ago for $55. Since purchasing that device I haven't really liked what I've been reading about them like the recent thing they did to people who had Hub devices. I've already spent money for the Telco though. I feel kinda obligated to try them at least so I won't feel like my money was completely wasted.
I've been looking at services mentioned here which might be cheaper monthly. I thought the OBi200 that was on sale at Amazon would be more then $5 off.
Some of the options I'd like are Name/Number Caller ID, Spam Call Blocking. I've read so many threads here before posting that I think I've overloaded my brain with different carriers. I'd like something I won't have to tinker with a lot. I can a setup to get started that's harder then Ooma. I think part of what got me jumbled up was using different companies for incoming and outgoing calls.
