Not sure if this is even possible....
Hello, I am a business owner and looking for a cheaper option than my current AT&T "landline" phone service. The catch is that I am licensed in the state of Georgia as a used motor vehicle dealer and this license requires the business to maintain a landline telephone. This is enforced, checked, and verified by a local inspector who visits your office as well as by the Georgia department of revenue (DOR).
In Georgia, dealers get their "dealer" license plates from the DOR. I don't know the details but I do know that before issuing and when renewing the plate registration, the DOR checks a computer system (assuming a website) to make sure my business number validates as a landline. The friendly DOR service agents would not tell me anything about this process.
I do know that my current number validates as a landline at validito.com and phonevalidator.com.
So my question - can anyone recommend a VOIP service or really any cheaper option than my current AT&T service ($60 per month) and be CERTAIN that the new service will validate as a LANDLINE?
I am hesitant to change because I'd hate to get my license suspended over a phone number just to save $30 a month. However, it burns me that I am forced into old-school, ineffective, and expensive options that I literally never use because of out-dated (at best) or misguided (likely) legislation.
Thanks for any help/suggestions :)
