Just an FYI for those wanting to install custom firmware, out of the box they are still "moddable".
Updated to 3.2.2 (Build: 5859EX-arrynrob7) without any issue.
Just a tip for others out there, the Obi200 box itself (and Im sure all others) list the MAC on the sticker on the bottom of the unit. Before plugging the thing into my network I went to my router (running Tomato FW) and explicitly blocked all Internet access for that Mac. That way there is absolutely no way Obi200 will pull the updated stock firmware before I get a chance to tinker with it.
Now after Im done with that Id like to block the official update servers on the router side. I can do a blanket .obihai.com block through the Dnsmasq. But Im not sure which URL the box pings? Has this been taken care of in the custom firmware? Or does anyone know which URLs are coded in the firmware to check for updates so that I can specifically block those?
I know there is this one http://w ww.obi hai.c om/firm ware/OB i2-lates t.fw (added spaces so that some unfortunate soul doesnt accidentally download and install it) but are there any others?
This is my first time dealing with Obi products (been using SPA-2102 up until now) so please be gentle :)
