Good day.
We recently installed a new VoIP system at our office. We are experiencing extremely bad quality calls.
System as follows:
Internet connection:
ISP: Sonic Telecoms
Connection: Wireless (microwave) to Fibre. (Direct fibre not being available in the area yet)
Speed: 10Mbps down, 2Mbps up.
Int Netw Spd: Gigabit
Router: Unifi Security Gateway
WIFI: Unifi AP-AC (x3)
Phone system:
Provider: Wanatel
• PBX: Yeastar S50
o H/W Ver: V2.00 0000-0000
o F/W Ver: 30.5.0.8
• Phones:
o Yealink T46S (Switchboard)
o Fanvil X4 (x1)
o Gigaset A510IP (x1)
o Gigaset A540H (x1) (The Gigasets are a combination of one base station and two handsets)
o The other nine extensions are all softphones using Zoiper on various makes and models of Android phones.
I am busy with a process of elimination, but so far it seems that the problem is internal and mainly affecting the soft phone extensions.
What I have found:
While a call may have very bad quality, the recording of the call is clear.
Wired phones such as the switchboard and the X4 don't seem to suffer bad quality calls.
I am still uncertain about the gigaset phones and am waiting for batteries as the ones supplied originally are in bad shape to eliminate that as a problem there.
It would seem to point to WIFI as the problem area. However, I have tested wireless signal strength and made adjustments to improve it to no avail. I get signal strengths of +- -54dBm, well within the minimum -67dBm range. Our surrounds also do not seem to be very crowded in terms of WIFI signals.
Can anyone make anything of the issue? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance. :)
