Some random number porting questions if I may---
1. (a) If I'm porting a number from landline carrier to cable, are they both involved in the porting process?
(b) If so, what does each of them do?
(c) If there's a delay, who's likely responsible?
(d) Isn't there an FCC rule requiring numbers to be ported (or is it released) within 1 business day? If so, is that even enforced?
(e) If the landline carrier decides not to release a number (assuming that's part of the process), do they have to provide an explanation and a denial to the requestor?
(e) If porting is taking 10+ days, with no end in sight, who should one complain to?
2. (a) IF my VOIP carrier uses a third party phone company to handle calls, does that third party control my phone number for porting purposes?
(b) Is there a number that I can call (like 700-555-4141) to determine who that third party carrier is?
(c) If my VOIP goes out of business, would getting my number ported be problematic?
(d) Is there anything I should do now, just in case something happens to my VOIP and I need to move on (with my number, of course)?
That's it.
Thanks in advance for your input.
