I remember when I switched my phone/internet from Verizon POTS to FIOS the installer cut off my phone wiring at the point where it entered the apartment. That isolated my inside phone wiring from Verizon copper "backbone". I then inserted splitter in the phone jack closest to my OBi 202, ran OBi 202 output into one of the splitter connectors (thus powering all existing wiring so that I could use phone jacks in other room) and connected the phone to another of splitter connectors.
I am now porting my father's number from Verizon POTS to VOIP and wonder if cutting off internal wiring from outside wiring is actually required. To begin with I can just plug his phone directly to OBi 200 but I would like to use existing wiring to utilize phone jacks in other rooms. The complexity of cutting of wires is that I don't know exactly where the entry in his apartment is (probably in the hallway closets) and even if I know where it is - on which side to cut it.
