I'm having an audio quality issue with local calls. Every so often (few times a minute) I hear a short break in the audio. At this time, my phone's "Packets (10ms) Interpolated" and "Packets Lost" increases. If I'm watching RTP Debug, I see the display "jump" slightly. This problem occurs if Asterisk is proxying audio for a call between two phones, or if I'm using the echo test. sip show channelstats claims 0 lost packets.
The problem happens with both my phone and my ATA. As a matter of course, I've changed all the network cables, even though ping shows no packet loss and no jitter.
Someone called me and left a voicemail while I was testing this and I accidentally discovered that the problem disappears if Asterisk is recording a call delivered via the internet. The problem still occurs if Asterisk is recording a local call.
Any suggestions for how to solve this would be appreciated.
