I have been using GrandStream wave on my Android phone for many months now and I am very happy with it in general.
There is only one issue with it. On the rare occasion when transiting from LTE to WiFi or vice versa, it does not re-register. I could live with that except the the icon in the status bar does not change color to indicate that it is not registered.
So I tried Media5-fone. I was very happy that the status bar icon changes from red to green and back to indicate if it is connected to my FreeSwitch server or not. The problem with Media5-fone is the audio quality is terrible. There is a lot of crackling in the audio. This happens when it is the exact same phone, exact same connection to the same SIP account on the same FreeSwitch server and sitting on the same couch in my living room.
I have tried both turning off noise reduction in Media5-fone and I have verified that the exact same codecs are set in exactly the same order on both apps.
Does anybody have any ideas as to what would cause this or what I can try to do to fix it?
