After publicly calling out one-man VOIP operation Axsit for failing to compensate a wrongfully billed customer in July 2016, CCTS (Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunications Services) has now followed up with the news that the customer has been compensated, and the business sold to Calgary-based telecom WiMac Tel. “We are pleased that Axsit has now seen fit to respect the fundamental requirement of our process – to implement the outcomes called for by CCTS following the fair and impartial investigation of a customer’s complaint,” said CCTS Commissioner Howard Maker in a press release. The regulatory body also noted that Mississauga-based Axsit took steps to address other aspects of its non-compliance with CCTS, including paying its outstanding fees, and has now been acquired by WiMac Tel.... CCTS states that Axsit will continue to operate under the same brand, and the transition “should be seamless” to the approximately 1,000 customers of the VOIP company. Previously, under the ownership of entrepreneur Peter Sliwka, Maker told ITBusiness.ca that Axsit “was a one-man operation, and he either couldn’t or wouldn’t spend the time necessary to service these customers.” http://mobilesyrup.com/2016/08/12/voip-service-axsit-sells-following-public-shaming-by-the-ccts/
