A while ago, Callwithus decided to deactivate accounts which have not been used for 3 months and charge a reactivation fee. The purpose of this was apparently to reduce dormant accounts. I consider this policy foolish, because a slick person will make every 3 months a 0.95c phone call and this way maintain an effectively dormant account for 3.8 c/year for good, while others get disconnected and penalized because they exceeded the 90 days.
What has not been clearly disclosed that after account reactivation, toll calls have to be made quickly otherwise the account will be deactivated again and penalty levied.
Through changes in their and other providers' pricing i only use them for calls to German cell phones, thus not very often any more.
on Sept 21st, I found my account deactivated so I had to make the call with another provider. Once the account was activated again and a penalty withheld, i did not attempt to call till October 01st. The account was deactivated again. At that time I was explained the small print in this policy, no courtesy or anything. I chose immediately to terminate my account and let them keep the remainder of the balance because I do not deal with something like this, to which I did not receive any response. In the mean time I re provisioned my Obi for a different provider. I think that in the world of small BYOD VoIP such behavior is counterproductive. If CWU wants to avoid dormant accounts, they should charge a minimum yearly consumption, like a dollar or two.
Fortunately, this is not broadband and we have choices.:)
