I submitted a porting request containing the relevant documentation to Localphone on January 8th after receiving a confirmation that they will be able to port the number.
I've been asking for updates since then periodically and have been told that they're waiting for the losing carrier.
On the 14th they responded:
"Upon checking the timeframe given for this number is 2 - 3 weeks.
We will let you know as soon as we have an update."
The last update that I received was on the 17th:
"Upon checking the port is pending for losing carrier's response.
Unfortunately, we do not have a reference number. Our internal communication is via email and only carrier to carrier.
You can ask Skype if they receive any port out request for your number."
I contacted Skype via Chat on their website and was told:
"Upon checking the account. It shows up that this number haven't requested to be ported out to a different Telco carrier. Normally, the process for this is that the user has to reached out the Telco carrier where they wish to port our the Skype number then provide your Skype name, and your Telco carrier will get in touch with us. Nevertheless, you don't have to worry.
Here's what we'll do instead.
I can go ahead and directly have this coordinated with our Higher tier of support team for investigation. For the meantime, I'll have this case forwarded to them and please expect a response coming from us via email within 24 hours regarding the next action to do, for your Skype number to have a progress in being ported out."
I didn't receive any follow up email.
I don't know what to think.
Should I give up trying to port to Localphone, go with Voipfone and pay £2.40 per month vs £0.75?
I'll also have to pay a porting out fee should I wish to leave.
Voipfone already did some homework and confirmed via an email to Wavecrest (UK) Ltd. that they are the range holder.
I'd appreciate any advice.
