I'm not sure if I am chasing something impossible, but here is what I would like to accomplish...
I have ATT Gigapower with a 1Gb fiber connection. I also have voice line that comes off the ATT modem (I supposed that is technically VOIP, but as far as all the phone devices in the house it is the same as a POTS connection). I have one cat 5e line that runs to my office from the basement where all the modems and switches are. Currently, I have one twisted pair of that cat5e carrying a phone signal to serve my landline and fax machine. There are two pairs carrying internet giving me a speed of about 100Mbs.
What I would like to do is dedicate that whole cat5e to internet and somehow keep the fax machine connected to the phone line. Running another line is not possible because of the way the house is constructed. I was hoping there would be some device that I could use to carry phone and fax over my house network (on the cat 5e) that I could then use anywhere I have a cat 5e drop.
It would look something like this:
Pnone line from ATT Modem--->"MagicVOIPBox"--->network switch--->"MagicVOIPBox"--->fax
Any ideas?
