So, I've done several FreePBX implementations for some small offices (2-6 stations) and, for those, I've preferred to use actual VOIP phones (usually Yealink). Everything has been working great.
However, I'm trying to decide the best thing to do for a new small office that will just have two cordless phones. They would almost never need to transfer calls between them. They just want two people on cordless phones to be able to answer the line and/or check voicemail. Pretty simple stuff.
Because it is so simple as far as usage goes, I'm not sure they'd really benefit from buying actual VOIP cordless phones. Instead, maybe it makes more sense to just get an ATA with two phone ports (like a Cisco SPA122, for example) and then just plug in two standard DECT 6.0 cordless phones. It just seems like a cheaper solution. I'd kinda like to just put in VOIP cordless phones like I normally do for FreePBX/Asterisk setups (Yealink has some that I like), but I'm not sure it makes sense from a cost standpoint over just doing the ATA to normal cordless phones.
Any thoughts on this? Maybe something I'm missing?
Thanks!
