Flash to a few years back when Walmart had a sale on the Vonage BasicTalk (GS HT-701) ATA for 98¢, some of us did enjoy the Unlocking the BasicTalk ATA discussion thread to un-customize and use the device. Then, Walmart did it again with the Vonage VoIP (GS HT-802) ATA device for under $10 and we also got it un-customized from this New Grandstream ATA used by Vonage discussion thread.
This morning, I was browsing the Jeff Doozan forum and noticed this new Android TV Box H96Pro S912 Octa Core 3G RAM + 16G/32G eMMC $7.50 discussion thread. Mind you, even though this product is listed on the Walmart Online store, the item is actually sold and shipped by Easy Vision Inc. (a 3-rd party Walmart seller?) and there is no guarantee if this offer is genuine or a scam. Anyway, I thought to share it here for those who wanna adventure getting such a device to run ARMbian (probably ubuntu and/or Kali Linux, too) + asterisk as a PBX. BTW, it appears this device can run CoreELEC (a stripped down Linux OS for Kodi). Also, there has been a brief mention in CoreELEC forum on how to install Asterisk. So, this will probably be a great device to hack as a PBX system (if it is not a scam). Anyone?
