For those of you familiar with Freeswitch, you know that Allison Smith (The Voice) was hired to make the voice prompts for the up and coming Freeswitch 1.8. Meanwhile, they posted the files at https://freeswitch.com/oss/allison/. Please note that the link to the 16K files has a " on the end that makes it unresolvable. Copy that address, open a tab, paste it and remove the " and you will get your 16K files.
To use them, decompress them to /usr/share/freeswitch/sounds/en/us/allison. Set the user and group for the newly planted allison folder to www-data as the user and group recursively such as chown -R www-data:www-data allison. At first I set the variable default_voice to allison from callie and restarted freeeswitch and that was not enough. I then edited /etc/freeswitch/languages/en/en.xml to change two entries at the top from callie to allison and restarted freeswitch. Reloading would likely work as well. I now have Allison prompts. As expected, they concatenate perfectly. As a matter of reference I use the FusionPBX gui. The latter file can be edited in their excellent xml editor, default_voice is changed in Advanced > Variables > Defaults.
