So google voice has the worst port in support and outright can't port a damn thing in my area code. I am looking to leave verizon and having been using google voice to manage my parents home lines I had the brightest idea that if I kept my number on a voip service with extensive call forward features and mobile app support I could service hop without risking losing my phone number to any sketchy providers. Unfortunately it seems like most VoIP center specifically on providing for a land line setup with expensive fees, and services based around the use of a single app (like magicapp) rather then an online portal leave me uncomfortable about housing my number with them.
I am simply using the service to house my primary number that I can hide behind for receiving and making calls (which would go to my mobile phone on any number happens to be). I make very few calls to begin with so usage will be very low. I am not seeking out mobile plans with low talk minutes or low/no data, it is simply the convenience of not needing to port my number if I change a mobile provider.
