Google is said to be developing a PBX-like service for G Suite, code named "Wolverine."[1][2] It is to compete with services like Skype for Business. I assume it will have PSTN connectivity and make use of Google Voice and Hangouts technology to include video calling and conferencing.
Not only would such a service compete with Microsoft's S4B, it would compete with other progressive "no more desk phone" companies like Dialpad.
A logical desktop endpoint for such a Google PBX would be an Obihai (now Polycom) desk phone.
