Hey folks,
I've posted some years ago looking for a focus group and again more recently looking for some adventurous Canadians. This new service has been a long time coming, but great news! It's finally ready for a public beta!
So what we've been working on is a new Canadian VoIP service for those wanting a lower cost self-managed solution. We've called it DryVoIP™. The name is similar to dry loop DSL service where you only receive the service you specifically want and don't need the whole bundled deal, which is what we've previously been selling since we first came involved with voice in 2004.
Some of the key features of DryVoIP include
- service is managed within Canada and billed in Canadian Dollars
- suitable for business use ability to publish phone number in directories and online for added credibility
- toll free service provided by parent company AcroVoice which is a RespOrg
- two way SMS available on all Canadian DIDs and Toll Free Numbers
- full support for Canadian CNAM inbound and outbound
- support for regional 310- numbers, n11 services, and access to Toll Free Numbers only reachable from the Great White North
- automatic voicemail transcriptions
This is considered a public beta because the service is intended to be reliable enough for regular usage however some of the feature set is still being developed, so there may be some rough edges and incomplete sections. Your feedback is welcomed to help steer and prioritize development.
At the moment we are charging for some services and including others for free, as an incentive.
Right now each account will receive two inbound channels at no cost, CNAM dips at no cost, and SMS (up to 1000 messages per month) at no cost. Outbound usage, DID costs, and 911 costs are billed regular rates so an initial payment will still be required in order to make use of the service.
If you create an account and find the service isn't for you, your feedback as to why would be very appreciated.
During the alpha phase of DryVoIP we made use of Reddit for our discussions. The subreddit is private so you'll need an account there and will have to request access, but all requests will be accepted and you're welcome to ask for access just to lurk if you'd like.
Further discussions are welcome both here and there so feel free to use whichever site you prefer.
The DryVoIP website isn't fully public yet so you must use this link to access the content: https://dryvoip.ca/preview/
Thanks for reading and thanks for helping me procrastinate from real work with all of the great discussions here on dslr over the years :)
