Good day.
Because I occasionally receive calls from people I haven't heard from since long ago (and some relatives who insist on calling me on that number), I ported my old cell phone number to VoIP.ms.
Yesterday. I received a legitimate SMS message from a five digit short code number. At first I was puzzled because the number showed up as "011XXXXX." I then remembered that the "011" prefix is used to call country codes outside the "1" country code and surmised that VoIP.ms SMS system added it in error.
Tried to reply from the VoIP.ms web site SMS widget, but received a "011XXXX is not valid" error message. Tried it again without the "011" prefix with the same result.
To make sure that the short code number was valid, I sent it (without the 011 prefix) a "STOP" message from my new cell phone and received a confirmation. as follows:
You have successfully unsubscribed and will receive no more messages.
Of course, I had never subscribed from my new cell phone.
Has any one else received a SMS message from a short code number on a VoIP.ms DID or does any one know if VoIP.ms can now receive SMS messages from short code numbers?
