I had a question about VOIP Latency.
It seems like round trip recommendation is under 150ms. Is this true? What all is included here? I understand in general lower latency is better.
Is under 150ms possible using a windows softphone? I have tried doing a ping test with audacity with the sound card plugged into itself and I am getting 120ms round trip already. Would a hardphone do better? Or maybe an android softphone?
Does windows have the same problem as Android in the "10 ms problem"?
On the packet end, my ping to my trunk provider is under 30ms.
Is there any general rule for how much latency is added after the trunk converts to pstn? It seems like 150ms round trip to a cell phone is impossible from voip, but maybe some recommendations here would help.
