Is replacing Grandma's (or any elderly resident) POTS line with VoIP service a smart idea?
The question is two-fold: general call reliability at unexpected times and E911 reliability. The VoIP service would run over a cableco 20/2 MB connection.
Possible VoIP setup scenarios considered are everything/all-in-one with providers such as Callcentric, VoIP.ms or VoIPo. Or separate inbound/outbound/E911 service put together with an OBi, perhaps using CC E911 with other providers servicing inbound/outbound.
But the main question is: is it safe?
