I know this isn't strictly VoIP, but if anybody knows, I figure the people here do.
My boss and I have been slowly getting our telecommunications infrastructure under control after taking over from a duo who documented absolutely nothing. It's been a struggle, but it's progressing well. However, there's a number that routed to us, but we can't find the owner of; our VoIP provider Fibrenoire says it isn't theirs. After poking around some websites and contacting every historical telecommunications provider the company had, it looked like Rogers owns the number. When we contacted Rogers, they said it was originally with them but was ported to RingCentral.
Unfortunately, after a long back-and-forth with RingCentral (who have been surprisingly helpful, considering we're not customers of theirs), they insist they don't own the number, and that it's 100% in Rogers' possession.
It seems like we're stuck between Rogers and RingCentral, both of whom insist the number isn't theirs. Shortly after this whole debacle started, the number went from completing properly to being out of service -- this doesn't surprise me since we're not paying either Rogers or RingCentral.
Does anybody know how I can find -- or who I could contact to find -- who is in possession of this number so we can start paying them? Neustar keeps coming up, but I don't even know how I'd get started with them.
