[Equipment] Newb: Oooma quality questions and Obi200 Port settings

I have always had a POTS line until a month ago, so I am new to a VOIP setup. I have been trying Ooma, but about 20% of the time, the quality is so bad I have to hang up. I have Comcast 150Mbps/23Mbps service with low jitter & latency and supposedly a MOS of 4.3. I use their modem/router combo for now. I have tried DECT phones, ATT 210, and switched between the 711 and ilbc codec options. When it is bad, no amount of hanging up/redialing/switching phones/codecs makes the problem go away. Ooma only has 2 servers and I am on the east coast server. I am in the Atlanta area. Anyone have any other suggestions from past experience with Ooma? Any debugging options? If it is Comcast temporary problems, how could that be determined? --------------- With the Ooma problems, I have just set up Obi200 / voip.ms about 3 days ago as an alternative. I used the instructions from the voip.ms site. I can make/receive calls, but I have a new problem. The long distance person we typically call says the speaker volume on his end is greatly reduced with the Obi200 vs the Ooma. On the FXS port settings of the Obi200 are two options - ChannelTxGain and ChannelRxGain. Does anyone know what these do? Could that increase the volume that is heard on the receiving end? Is there someplace that describes all these options on the Obi200? --------------- I chose voip.ms because they have two Atlanta servers and the ping time averages only 18ms. Is there some other SIP provider that people think might have better voice quality in the Atlanta area? --------------- I am in a learning/investigative phase, but due to a nightmare 5-day ordeal with ATT U-Verse VOIP, my transition is mandatory as opposed to planned. My transition from POTS to VOIP is not going as smooth as I had hoped.
