Hello, my first post here, in VoIP forum.
Ever since I upgraded my internet connection in January (which came with anew cable modem), I am having problems with one of VoIP phones on my network, only one, other VoIP devices on the same network and with the same provider (voip.ms) are working fine.
Through troubleshooting and elimination method I narrowed it down to the modem issue (or at least I thought it was a modem issue).
Problem started around that time when modem was changed (the system I have was working more/less flawlessly for 5 years), although I was traveling a lot in January/February so I was not using that particular phone too often.
Please see my post over in "Rogers" forum for details: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31305360-Modem-Router-VoIP-issue-with-Hitron-CGN3-in-bridged-mode-firmware-4-2-4-7
Please read that post first (it is not very long) as it has all the details.
So I decided to exchange my CGN3 modem for the CGN3AMR (as one of the users reported in the thread linked above slightly similar issue with CGN3 and got it resolved by using with CGN3AMR), but my local store did not have the CGN3AMR in stock so I left with CODA-4582 modem.
No joy, same issue as with the CGN3, Cisco IP7970 would not receive calls.
I spent too much time trying to troubleshoot and resolve this issue that I finally decided to try another phone, even I love the Cisco IP7970 and all it's features, I need a functioning phone, not just fancy paperweight.
So I picked up yesterday a used SNOM 370 and got it to work.
Sort off...
It works most of the time , but sometimes (maybe one out of ten) it would not receive incoming call.
Phone shows always as registered, in the phone's web GUI as well as on voip.ms portal.
What I managed to do is to capture packets (with tcpdump) on WAN port as well as LAN port simultaneously while I was trying to make one of these unsuccessful incoming calls.
Interesting is that the router receives INVITE message on the WAN port, but it is not routed to the LAN port of the router.
That would point the finger on the router this time, as being the main culprit (I think)
I have exhausted my voip/networking skills at this point so I am looking for any hints.
Thanks in advance!
